EFFECT OF HORMONE RODS

After insertion (implantation) of the rod, Implanon slowly and evenly releases the active ingredient into the bloodstream in minute quantities, thus developing its contraceptive effect. This is based, on the one hand, on an inhibition of ovulation and, on the other hand, on a change in the cervical mucus, which makes it more difficult for sperm (semen) to rise into the uterus. Implanon is a safe contraceptive method that provides protection against pregnancy for a period of 3 years. When used correctly, pregnancy protection is provided on the first day of use and lasts for three years.

• mothers who want a gap between their pregnancies

UNDESIRABLE SIDE EFFECTS HORMONE STICKS

Many of the adverse effects associated with hormones used for contraception (estrogens and progestins) are similar to symptoms of pregnancy. This is due to the similarity between these hormones and the natural hormones produced by the body in greater quantities during pregnancy. These effects may also occur during the use of Implanon (which, however, contains only progestin), but are not necessarily due to Implanon. In particular, irregular bleeding, skin blemishes and weight gain are among the possible side effects.
